Minister for Climate Change sees Rain Director at Grand Designs.
Ed Miliband, Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, was introduced to the British-produced RainDirector at Grand Designs which took place at Excel at the end of April. In the company of Kevin Mcloud, presenter of Grand Designs on Channel 4Minister Ed Miliband and Kevin McCloud with the new Rain Director, the Minister visited the ECO-HOME display where the Rain Director and an underground tank were on display for visitors. The minister took part in a debate on the "Great British Refurb", a campaign led by Kevin McLoud to get the government to set more immediate targets for reducing the 27% of the UK's carbon emissions produced by our 26 million existing homes.

The "Rain Director" : Finalist for Grand Designs Awards.
This patented product introduced in autumn 2008 was a strong contender for a Grand Designs award in the new category introduced this year for the best Innovative Building Product. The Rain Director has been developed to meet shortcomings in standard rainwater management systems. These have a pressure sensitive pump, activated whenever an appliance is used or pressure drops. This entails frequent pump cycles, using power each time. With
the Rain Director, rainwater is pumped from the main storage tank to a 91 litre header tank. Control sensors set off the pump only when the header tank is empty. Besides saving energy and prolonging pump life, the Rain Director incorporates mains back up, a key element for any rainwater harvesting system. It also ensures clear, non-brackish water at all times. For futher information on the Rain Director Click Here

Hot dry summer forecast : Special offer for gardeners.
The met office has forecast that in contrast to the last 2 summers we have had, this summer should becomplete rainwater harvesting systems in DIY kit form more like the summer of 2006. Remember that one? Dried out lawns, dying plants, hosepipe bans? The government is likely to bring forward proposed legislation giving waterboards the right to extend bans to cover filling pools, hottubs and other water features as well as watering and outdoor cleaning. Rainwaterharvesting.co.uk is offering a 10% discount on all its Garden kits, and its Standard Domestic and Garden systems for orders placed before 27 June. Remember that a hose full on can use 1000 litres an hour, so the larger the tank the better. A 3750 litre underground tank kit with the Rain Back Up in a Box option under offer will cost £1878 instead of £2086. For full details on these kits please Click Here
