Graf Carat tank 4800 litre, Complete System 1 underground KIT includes a 4800 litre underground tank, Optimax Pro filter, Series 3 pump and the accessories needed to deliver clean rainwater to a garden tap. Some standard external pipework and connectors will be needed but are not included in the kit as the location of the system will determine the amount of pipework required.

Graf Optimax Pro filter included as standard In response to customer demand, we have included the Graf’s Optimax Pro filter which fits neatly inside the turret of the Carat tank. With its integrated overflow siphon and inlet calming device, we no longer need to cut holes in the turret other than those provided by Graf in the moulding.

The Optimax Pro Filter is self cleaning - water arriving across the filter mesh pushes excess debris and leaves to the overflow. The optional extra hose connector permits you to connect a hose and wash it through more thoroughly from time to time. We find the alternative Universal Filter 3 leaves the debris and leaves sitting in the filter basket so the user is obliged to open up the manhole cover of the turret, get the basket out and dispose of the leaves and debris somewhere - its a bit like a teabag!. This might be a chore too many in a busy garden, so the Optimax Pro is our preferred choice. You might lose up to 5% of the rain water but it is cleaner and removes the leaf debris away to the soakaway or drain.

External HDPE Rainwater Pipe included. It is important to identify a source of a water supply. Untreated rainwater is not for human consumption and so water companies are recommending (and in some cases requiring) that Black and Green HDPE pipe is used for piping rainwater from the tank to the point of use - eg. garden tap. The point of use should be clearly labelled to show that rain water is the source. We include 25mm black and green hdpe pipe and labels with this kit with the option to buy further rolls of pipe.

If you are referring to the Graf catalogue or brochure, this kit from RainWater Harvesting is the equivalent to the Graf Eco Plus Package; our kit includes items 1) the Tank 2) the dome or “turret” and 3) Filter package 3. In place of the Graf pump package we provide the high quality, popular and ultra-reliable Series 3 submersible pump, and a inline filter to take the cleanest water first.

Shipping, assembly and installation
Like the Graf Hercules, the Carat comes in two halves so you can carry it through a doorway as narrow as 80cms (and so we can stack many of them on one pallet for bulk transport). A centering bolt makes assembly accurate and the quick connections ensure there are no leaks between the two sections... and yet you can disassemble it if you like. The material used is a PE variant called Duralen. The Carat tank can support pedestrian and car traffic (but not trucks and HGVs) when fitted with the optional dome and cast iron lid. The complete installation and maintenance instructions for the Carat tanks are available on demand from info@rainwaterharvesting.co.uk but are not available except to purchasers.

This technique provides the tank with unbeatable stability and ensures that each component is produced with the highest accuracy.
