Championing Rainwater Reuse at The Houses of Parliament

As a part of Water Reuse Week, members of the UK Rainwater Management Association (UKRWA) gathered at The Houses of Parliament for an important meeting with Lee Pitcher, MP for Doncaster East, who is spearheading efforts to encourage greater reuse of rainwater in homes across the UK.

Lee gave a passionate speech about the preciousness of water and the reality that our supplies are far more under threat than most people realise.

He highlighted the urgent need to act now if we want to secure a sustainable water future.

As the meeting concluded, we were joined by other MPs.

We were fortunate to have in-depth discussions with two prominent members Charlotte Cane, (MP for Ely) and Gideon Amos (MP for Taunton).

Each of these conversations gave us the chance to really highlight the benefits of rainwater harvesting and discuss the regulation changes that are needed to make this practice more widespread and effective across the country.

In total, six UKRWA members were present at today’s meeting, contributing to a strong representation of our industry.

Many of the conversations and connections made today were invaluable in moving the conversation forward at a political level.

The momentum behind rainwater reuse is growing, and it’s clear that with the support of MPs and organisations like UKRWA, we can begin to make the changes necessary for a more resilient and sustainable water future.
