Garden System – Case Study – Norwich

Environmental Consultant wanted to make the most of an extended roof area.
Why Rainwater Harvesting Was Considered
After renovating their bungalow, a homeowner wanted to make better use of the newly expanded roof area.
With more roof space available, the property could collect significantly more rainwater, making it an ideal opportunity to install a rainwater harvesting system.
Due to the age of the bungalow, the renovation work required significant groundwork. As part of the improvements, the homeowner began considering options for rainwater storage that could make better use of the increased rainfall collection.
The homeowner explored several sustainable solutions. However, as an avid gardener, their main priority was reducing mains water usage for garden maintenance. Many of the options considered would not have had a meaningful impact on their garden water consumption.
As an environmental consultant, the homeowner was already aware of the benefits of rainwater harvesting. This quickly became the most attractive solution, allowing them to make full use of the expanded roof area while also supporting their goal of reducing water usage. An additional benefit was that the system is manufactured in the UK, supporting local production.
The Rainwater Harvesting Solution
Using our tank size calculator, we recommended a 3000L F-Line Tank Garden System, which provides an efficient solution for collecting and storing rainwater for garden use.
Project Achievements
Since installation, the homeowner has been able to use the collected rainwater for a range of everyday tasks, including:
-
Watering plants and flower beds
-
Maintaining vegetable planters
-
Washing cars
The original system was installed in 2021, with our Rain Acculevel water level monitor added in early 2024.
The homeowner began looking for a better way to monitor water levels after becoming frustrated with manually checking the tank using a dipstick. By installing the Acculevel monitor, they can now easily track their rainwater levels and ensure the system does not unexpectedly run dry.
Client Feedback
When we asked our client if he would recommend us this is what he said
“I found the initial contact with the rainwater team very helpful and informative with detail. I have already recommended to several people”.
Key Achievements
- Reduced water usage by about 25-30%.
- Improved garden appearance with grass thriving from rainwater.
- Guilt-free watering and washing in the garden.
- Acculevel readings.
