Gravity Feed System – Case Study – Cambridgeshire
Homeowner wanted to reduce reliance on mains water usage.
Client: Homeowner
Type of System: 3000 Litre Gravity Feed System
Location: Cambridgeshire
Completed: 2024
With the increasing strain on traditional water sources in the local area, a local homeowner wanted to reduce their reliance on mains water as much as possible.
Having met the client at a trade show, we were able to provide a solution that supported their desire to reduce mains water reliance in their home.
Taking usage, the size of the home and the clients water saving goals, we were able to specify a 3000L tank, filter and pump with a Rain Director control unit which will feed the home from a smart header tank before requiring water to be pumped from the main underground tank. (This is a more sustainable option than using mains top-up systems).
Since installation, the client has been able to utilise their system for toilets, washing machines and an outdoor tap.
The client reported that using rainwater for their washing machines has improved their clothes washing as the quality of water has significantly improved.
When we asked the client if they would recommend us, this is what they said:
“Absolutely. The support has been excellent throughout the process, with no issues answering any questions from the plumber & electrician, including an additional site visit to repair an issue with the control box”.
Key Achievements
- Reduced consumption on mains water.
- Improved clothes washing.
- Guilt-free flushing.
